It seems the Petit Branch is the only library listed as accepting donations, but the six other city libraries with contact details on the above website link may also accept donations.

How to Donate

Bring your books to these Rescue Mission thrift stores for an easy drop off. The charity helps people in-need in the Syracuse area, and was founded in the late 1800s and named after a slave who was rescued via the underground railroad back in 1851!

Type of Books Accepted: Children’s books, fiction, non-fiction, hardcovers, paperbacks, magazines

Up to one bag or box of books can be dropped off at the front desk.

If you have more than this, the Library ask that you please call them in advance to arrange a drop off time.

Backstreet Books

Donation Type: Drop off

Hours: Mon-Sat 9.30am – 4pm
Type of Books Accepted: Should take any books in good condition

Backstreet Books (& Bistro, technically) got a feature on the local Oswego county website at the start of Covid for their inspiring “window art” you can see below. Though they don’t have a website, they’re a truly local organization.
