If you’re sitting on some books that have reached the end of their chapter with you, and you’re based in or around Toledo, there are three awesome places you can donate books in.

Each of these has a slightly different cause, but they all work to help local Toledo residents, so you can be sure that whichever organization you choose to donate to, you’ll be helping the community by keeping your literature local!

Family House Toledo

Donation Type: Drop off
Location: 669 Indiana Ave., Toledo, OH 43604
Hours: Tues-Fri 9-5
Type of Books Accepted: Children’s books, adult books, any book bags too
Website: Family House Toledo

How to Donate

Family House welcome any book donations at their facility in Toledo. There is no specific criteria regarding book donations, other than they accept both kids’ and adult books, which means most gently used books would be suitable to donate here. Bear in mind the books will be read by families.

Why We Love Family House

They provide shelter and food for homeless families in the local area. Their daycare branch, the Simply Amazing Academy, makes use of donated books to educate kids and provide a safe, fun space for them to read by themselves for with others.

This is an amazing and worthwhile cause to donate your books to.

Friends of the Toledo Library Book Center

Bring your books on Friday to their book center at the above address. Sales of donated books all go back into the Toledo Library, so this is a great way to support your local library.

Why We Love the 577 Foundation

This is an awesome community space that promotes art, literature, and charity. It’s located in the former residence of Virginia Secor Stranahan, who was, among other things, a founder of the Toledo Women’s League of Voters!

Their “curiosity shop” can always use some delightful donated books to keep their shelves well stocked!
