How to Donate to the Tacoma Library

The Tacoma Public Library accepts donations at any of its open branches, dropped off inside during opening hours.

The Library asks for no more than two boxes full of books per donation (roughly 100 books.)

Tax receipts can be provided upon request, and you’ll be pleased to know the proceeds from the Library book sales go to supporting the Summer Reading Program, encouraging kids to keep reading during the holidays.

How to Donate to the Community House

I came across an older Facebook post asking for the above type of books, but it stands to reason the nonprofit can still greatly benefit from any donated books. They’ll use the books to actively teach their guests English, as they work to migrate them into American society.

They prefer children’s books or easy to read chapter books, so maybe just think before donating that copy of War and Peace here!

As specified above, almost all of the local Pierce County libraries accept book donations, to be brought inside and handed off at the branch. These are sold at Friends’ book sales to raise money for library programs and general upkeep.

They currently say they have limited space for donations, so I’d recommend this option if you have just a few gently used books you’d like to get off your shelves (not a whole bunch of boxes!)

They’re open every day of the week, making it an easy drop off option.
