Seriously, though, our goal is to make it easier to find local places to donate your books. So, below, we’ve listed everywhere accepting book donations in Omaha, including where and how to donate, in order to make dropping your books off as easy as possible!

Omaha Book Recovery

Type of Books Accepted: Children’s books, non-fiction, fiction, religious books, cookbooks
Type of Books Not Accepted: Magazines, textbooks over 5 years old, community/church cookbooks, encyclopedias, yearbooks, old library books

How to Donate

This is a pick up service. Simply schedule a time for them to pick up your books on their website here.

Omaha Book Recovery will generally only make a trip to pick up 50 or more books (at least one large box full.)

Your donated books will be redistributed to local Omaha-area charities through this awesome service! 

Friends of the Omaha Public Library

How to Donate

Larger donations (think more than a few boxes) will be accepted at the W. Clarke Swanson branch. However, as of the date I’m writing this, all branches do accept book donations, so check their website to find your nearest one!

The Omaha Library Friends run frequent book sales to raise vital money for the library and its programs. You’ll be helping them out by donating books.

Nebraska Children’s Home Society

How to Donate

The Nebraska Children’s Home Society has several drop off locations listed above. The organization provides care and lodging for foster children and they’ve proudly had over 17,000 children adopted so far.

Giving books to children to enjoy and sometimes escape to can be a very meaningful gift for this nonprofit, so they’d be a great option for your gently used children’s and baby books.
