How to Donate

There are two ways: you can either drop your books off in person, or if you have a particularly large amount of books, the Readmobile is able to pick these up directly from you.

To arrange, call Read 20 on 423-209-6190.

We love Read 20 because of their effort to encourage parents to read 20 minutes a day with children before the age of 5; something that’s been proven to vastly improve their early language and reading skills, and something we touch on in our article on the benefits of reading to children.

The legendary “Readmobile” (pictured above) is a staple around Chattanooga, and gives out free books to children as well as operating reading sessions. From 2008-2021, the Readmobile has done in-person read-alouds with over 300,000 students! This is a great way to support a local community cause that is vital for children who maybe don’t have the access to books at home.

Other Tennessee City Book Donation Guides

I must admit, I only knew Chattanooga was famous for the legendary ‘Chattanooga Choo-Choo’ which is why I threw in a terrible pun to begin this post, but after digging into the city’s book donation spots a little more it’s pleasing to see a variety of options for those looking to donate books in Chattanooga.

The only hard part for you now, is going to be deciding which organization deserves your books (or whichever one is closest!) Happy donating!
