We all know that LA and Philly stay jiggy, but on the sneak, Miami has a host of awesome organizations that’ll take your book donations!
Here, you’ll find a complete list showing you where to donate books in Miami, the method of donation, and any other requirements for each organization. It’s great to see so many places accepting gently used books, and some will even pick up your books for you, so read on to see the best places to donate books in Miami.
Books for You Miami
Donation Type: Pick up from you
Type of Books Accepted: Pre-k books, children’s books, young adult books, books for highschoolers, notebooks
Type of Books Not Accepted: Magazines, dictionaries, encyclopedias, college books

How to Donate
As Books for You will pick up your books free of charge, they request you contact them via Instagram or WhatsApp in order to schedule a pick up time. You must include:
- Your address
- How many books you’re donating
Why We Love Books for You
They work in schools, clinics, and the local Miami community at large to give children access to books, and importantly, reading support. Founded in 2020, they’ve already had a huge impact, and their book pick up service is a fantastic option for anyone living in Miami.
Bookleggers Library
Donation Type: Drop off, Pick up from you
Location: Bakehouse Art Complex 561 NW 32nd Street, Miami, FL 33127
Drop Off Hours: Tue-Thu 12-5pm
Type of Books Accepted: Any books in good condition

How to Donate
Their main headquarters at the Bakehouse Art Complex accepts donations during the above hours.
If you wish to schedule a pick up, you’ll need to contact Bookleggers to arrange this. Our guess is that you’d need a substantially sized donation of books (2+ boxes) for them to do a pick up, but it’s best to email them either way!
Why We Love Bookleggers Library
The nonprofit defines itself as a “mobile library” that aims to bring free books to people who need them in the local Miami community. They do this by offering a free book to keep for anyone who visits their physical library, but also through neat services such as their “Bookbike” which allows the organization to visit anywhere and provide books to anyone who wants them.
This is a really cool initiative with a brilliant name, and a deserving cause for any books you may have laying around, not least because they’re not at all picky about which books they want!

Why We Love Books for Free
This initiative by the Children’s Trust has placed book bins in no fewer than 33 convenient locations around Miami, making it super accessible to drop off your used children’s books!
This initiative donates 3,500 books annually to in-need children and their caregivers in Miami-Dade county, helping to close the literacy gap in the community.

Miami Dade College supports the Books For Free program by offering a free book collection service if you have more than 100 books to donate.

How to Donate
The Friends of the MDPL do accept book donations but the method of how and where to donate is unclear. As this library system has a massive amount of local branches, we recommend reaching out to your local branch for more information on what they’re looking for and when to donate.

Hello, I think Books for You and Bookleggers (listed above) will be able take the books, I don’t collect the books myself!
I have tons of books I need to get rid of, actually several book shelves worth. There are some that are how to books, but there is quite a bit of spanish books and a lot of spiritual books, like from the 80s,, 90s in spanish etc… It was my parents collection. Are these acceptable and who should I donate to? I do have different subject books too and encyclopedias.
Most places on this list should accept these types of books, but no encyclopedias.
