You no longer have an excuse – Society of St. Vincent de Paul has 31 charity shops where you can donate your books and other goods in Dublin alone! Drop them off at your most convenient location and you’re good to go.

Support the largest voluntary charitable organization in Ireland, who have been dedicated to assisting individuals and families in poverty since 1844.

How to Donate

Pop into their charity shop to donate your books to Liberty. You will be served by one of their programme participants, who are looking to gain some experience before going on to work in the retail sector.

The organization has an interesting set-up: they have created an entire system with the aim of providing rehabilitation and training services to those struggling with drug and/or alcohol addiction. Book donations will be sold in their charity shop, and the income from which will contribute to funding the programme.

How to Donate

Simon has two charity shops in Dublin where you can donate your books. They also accept a number of other items if you’re having a clear-out, just check the list on their website.

Dublin Simon Community are a great cause to support, as they aim to provide support through all the stages of homelessness, and they have been for the last 50 years.

The Library of Trinity College Dublin

How to Donate

We’re talking about your average book here, but if you do have any early printed books or manuscripts lying around, this is also the place to donate them. Further information about the evaluation process is available on their website. Otherwise, books are collected for the Trinity College Dublin Annual Book Sale.

Donations of books must be previously arranged by contacting the office via telephone +353 1 8962276 or email booksale@tcd.ie. You have the option to either post the books (they suggest in boxes no larger than a 12 bottle wine box with your name and contact details enclosed) or delivering them directly to the office yourself if you’re looking for a local book donation location in Dublin.

This is a great way to make room for some new books on your bookshelves, and support the library of the highest-ranked university in Ireland at the same time.

If you have any larger household items to donate along with your books, NCBI has already done all of the hard work for you. Fill out their online form, and they will contact you to arrange a collection of your goods at your home address – the perfect service if you have recently purged your bookshelves!
